The Community Dinner Steering Committee held a celebratory event on the evening of October 14th to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Stoneham Community Dinner Program and to recognize its devoted sponsors.

StonehamBank was recognized at the event for actively supporting the Community Dinner Program for 15 years since its inception. Accepting the honor was Janice Houghton, President and CEO of StonehamBank.

On the first Tuesday of each month, StonehamBank provides funds to purchase the food for the meals served at Community Dinner. In addition, volunteers from the bank assist with preparing dinner, serving meals, and cleaning up.

The Community Dinner Program is an interfaith program providing hot, nutritious meals to residents of the neighboring communities. Initiated in 1995 by First Congregational Church, the program is supported by a wide range of churches, businesses, and service clubs in Stoneham. Meals are served each Tuesday at 5:45 pm to 50-70 guests of all ages. Teams from First Congregational Church (Hungry Helpers), St. Patrick’s Parish, First Baptist Church, St. James Methodist Church, and an interfaith team that partners with StonehamBank help prepare and serve the meals to the community. Community Dinners also receive generous support from the Rotary Club, Hallmark Health nurses, and Excelsior Realty.
