StonehamBank Celebrates Janice T. Houghton's 10th year as President and Chief Executive Officer

StonehamBank is currently celebrating Janice T. Houghton’s 10th year as President and Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Houghton began her career at StonehamBank behind the teller line in 1970. Since then, she has proven her skills throughout virtually every area of the bank including retail, lending, and finance. She was elected Executive Vice President in 1994.

Ms. Houghton began her presidency at StonehamBank in 1999 where she continues to thrive today. Barely settled into her new role, Ms. Houghton created a charitable foundation for StonehamBank in 2000. This foundation donates approximately $150,000 a year to various community non-profits such as The Stone Zoo, The Boys and Girls Club, and Stoneham Public Schools. In addition, StonehamBank is the flagship sponsor for many local organizations including Stoneham Theatre, Stoneham Chamber of Commerce’s Concerts on the Common, Stoneham Little League, and Billerica and Stoneham’s Pop Warner. Under Ms. Houghton, StonehamBank has been the lead fundraising sponsor for Mystic Valley Elder Services “Gap Fund” for the past four years.

In 2003, among a respectable list of contenders, Ms. Houghton was recognized as Citizen of the Year by the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce. Her involvement as chairwoman of the Town of Stoneham Retirement Board, chairwoman of the Stoneham Theatre Board, and the Stoneham Rotary Club were only a few of her credentials that made her stand out amongst others.

Today, Ms. Houghton serves on the board of directors at Winchester Hospital and Co-Operative Central Bank. StonehamBank is extremely fortunate to have Ms. Houghton as President. Her leadership, vision, and forward thinking have provided great success for the Bank.
