STONEHAMBANK EMPLOYEES COMPLETE TRAINING PROGRAM

Stoneham, MA – StonehamBank Executive Vice President Edward F. Doherty recently congratulated several employees who completed their two year commitment to The New England School for Financial Studies (NESFS) at Babson College.

The program is specifically geared to provide banking professionals with the tools needed to manage effectively…and broaden the skills of supervisory personnel. Each of the two sessions provides 135 hours of classroom instruction which includes lectures, case studies, research, analysis and creative planning. Participants are also required to complete five independent study projects between sessions and the course culminates with a comprehensive computerized simulation which challenges students to assume senior management responsibilities.

StonehamBank Billerica Assistant Branch Manager Karen Melo has worked at StonehamBank since 2008 in both the Stoneham and Billerica branches and in several different roles. Her experience at NESFS was rewarding, she says, adding “I hope to bring what I have learned back to the bank and to continue the journey.”

StonehamBank Montvale Branch Manager Alex Devlin, who joined the bank in 2010, has served in both branch and back office capacities during his employment, and noted that “NESFS enhanced my understanding of the careful strategic planning and execution StonehamBank’s executive management encounters every day…the program has made me a more well-rounded banker with new tools to utilize in the branch environment. Beyond financial skills, the program provided great insights into working with differing personalities and presentation skills.”

For StonehamBank Retail & Loan Services Associate Andrea Simmons, who arrived at StonehamBank in 2006, the program “(was) the perfect way to really understand just what it takes to be successful in the banking world. It combined Finance, Marketing, Retail, Loans and Leadership…” Simmons recently took on her current role after working in the Montvale Branch as both a Customer Service Representative and a teller.

During the graduation ceremony held at Babson College Executive Conference Center, the attendees were applauded for their efforts and urged to continue their search for knowledge.

“Our team members deserve to have the absolute best training for their roles,” says Doherty. “We want them to feel confident and competent to handle any situation that comes their way and to carry out StonehamBank’s mission. These three individuals worked hard on this program and are commended for their dedication. I have no doubt that Karen, Alex and Andrea, who already bring tremendous skill to their roles, will be even stronger and more capable as a result of their participation!”
