On Saturday, May 21st StonehamBank held its 3rd annual shredding event. The event, which the Bank holds every spring at both branches, gave everyone the chance to have old documents shredded onsite safely and securely. Joshua Mahoney, StonehamBank’s Sales & Marketing Manager, elaborated “Many documents contain at least some personal information and should never be just thrown away. We encourage people to periodically review what they have and destroy any sensitive documents that they no longer need to reduce the risk of identity theft. This event is a great way for people to destroy year’s worth of unwanted paper quickly and easily.”

The Bank is also promoting the environmentally friendly side of the event. “Once the paper is shredded it will be recycled, adding a nice green element to the Shred Day event,” said StonehamBank employee Mary Celli. To further promote going green, Bank employees were on hand to educate customers about electronic statement options.

To perform the actual shredding onsite, StonehamBank invites trucks from Shred-it for the event. Shred-it specializes in onsite document destruction.
